Calls to Action (CTAs) – convert website visitors into clients

The most important key to converting website visitors into clients is to have what marketers call a 'strong call to action'.

What is a CTA?

A call to action is a tool designed to prompt visitors to take a specific action. Usually presented as buttons or links, CTAs aim to convert website visitors into clients by encouraging them to establish a connection. The goal might be something as straightforward as collecting an email address and permission to communicate.

Visitors browsing your website need clear guidance about what to do next. A strong CTA presents a clear, simple and compelling offer that persuades them to take the action you want. It's one of the most critical components of online advertising.

Where to use a CTA?

Once potential clients arrive at your website, it's crucial to retain their attention quickly - unattractive or difficult-to-navigate sites drive visitors away. Your website should clearly communicate the services you provide. Making it easy for visitors to contact you significantly increases conversion. Deploy CTAs across your website pages, blog posts and email communications.

What can be a CTA?

A call to action can be an image, text or advert that tells potential clients to contact you. Every page should include one, whether displaying contact information, a contact form or a callback request. Other approaches include newsletter signups, free downloads, quotes, discounts, or explanations highlighting your service advantages.

Creating strong calls to action

Keep it simple. Use minimal wording and express your offer clearly without unnecessary conditions. Complicated CTAs discourage action.

Make it obvious. Avoid relegating your CTA to the bottom. Use prominent placement and bright colours so more people click on it.

Make it valuable. Ensure your offer appeals to your target audience. You needn't invest heavily - repurpose existing materials like case studies, brochures, articles or guides.

Use action verbs. Choose compelling language that triggers clicks: "get my free quote", "join now", "create my free account", "get instant access".

Create a sense of urgency. Motivate clicks through scarcity messaging like "act now" or "for a limited time".

Finally, test continuously. Every business differs, so measure and analyse results to develop an effective strategy.
